Magnetic sensor passenger traffic counter

The digital pulse counter has a wide range of applications, including in the food industry for counting packaging cycles, in metal processing for monitoring the rotations of CNC machines, in the beverage industry for counting applied labels, in various access control systems and even in winding and baling machines or for counting rotations in various industrial processes.

This can be configured to monitor the number of people entering and leaving various locations. For example, in a store, the counter can be mounted near the entrance doors to record how many people enter or leave, providing useful data for traffic monitoring and human resource management.

In addition to using the magnetic sensor, the counter can be made by connecting the two counting wires to a free contact on a relay or to a switch-limiter contact. The impulse is recorded when the contacts close (on the negative edge of the signal). This device has a good resistance to interference and noise. It works on its own battery, it does not require an external power source. It has a reset contact (contacts 3 and 4). The counting contacts are named 1 and 2 and can accept up to 30 input signals per second. On the front panel there is the POWER button (long press for on/off) and the RESET button.

To replace the battery, you must remove the two fixing screws from the back of the device and slide the cover outward. It only counts in ascending order and cannot be set to count in descending order. The set includes the counter, the magnetic sensor with two nuts, a metal mounting plate for the sensor and a disk-type magnet used to actuate the sensor.

To count pulses from the electrical network (220-240V AC), the contact of an intermediate relay is used, whose coil is powered at 220V AC.
